Lateral G — side-to-side force
The shove in flat turns and snaps — often more uncomfortable than big drops.
Lateral G pushes you left or right. Your head and neck feel it strongly because they sit above your constrained torso.
Snaps happen when lateral direction changes quickly — common on older inverts and tight flat turns.
Enthusiasts call some rides “headbangers” when lateral transitions are abrupt relative to modern profiling.
Compare rides with similar height but different turn radii — the wilder one may be lateral, not vertical.
