How launches work

LIM, LSM, hydraulic — different ways to shove a train from rest to serious speed.

Learn/Elements & inversions

Modern launches use linear motors (LIM/LSM) or hydraulic/pneumatic catch cars that grip the train and release at speed.

LSM launches are repeatable and common on multi-launch layouts. Hydraulic launches can feel violent in a short window — famous for one-shot acceleration.

Relaunch rides may slow or stop between passes; continuous circuit launches integrate into a longer course. POV timing helps you know when the punch arrives.
